It all started when…
While working with vulnerable groups of women through the work of The Liberty Project in the North of Mozambique from Pemba to Nacala we saw one thing in common…. an immense need for economic opportunity. While The Liberty Project empowers and equips women with new skills, literacy and a healthy new identity, the picture is not yet complete if the women are still without work and therefor without a way to feed and clothe themselves and their children.
Vulnerable women, remain vulnerable women without the opportunity to make a steady income.
Liberty Design Studio is a for- profit, for good, social enterprise located in Northern Mozambique. We are on a mission to represent collectives of women artisans throughout the north by getting their masterpieces into the hands of discerning customers nationwide and globally. This not only provides an income for our artisans, it also creates a profit of which 50% is donated to the work of The Liberty Project who are invested in equipping and empowering women out of vulnerability and into brighter and stronger futures! (who, by the way, train groups of women in new artisanal skills to make our beautiful handcrafted products while helping them become literate and healed from backgrounds of trauma).
Together we can make a difference in brining freedom, empowerment and healthy identity to women in Northern Mozambique! Impacting communities for good and for the long run!
All of our products are handcrafted from scratch…like this process to make baskets out of the sisal plant.
